About Tokaj Aszú:

  • a sweet wine made exclusively in the Tokaj wine region in Hungary

  • its vineyards were classified in 1737 making Tokaji the world’s first wine to come from a legally protected zone, thus predating similar systems in Bordeaux, Jerez or Champagne

  • the onset of noble rot or Botrytis cinerea is essential to the production of Aszú however this does not happen in every vintage making Aszús even more rare and precious

  • the late harvest, the manual picking of botrytised berries one by one, the limited quantity and the long aging process all contribute to the uniqueness of this wine

     

About us:

Tokaj Aszú is one of the very few instantly recognizable, truly distinctive wines. The terroir, the centuries old tradition, the local grape varieties and the current generation of winemakers have all contributed to a matrix that has the ability to stun both the wine consumer and the professional sommelier. 
 

Our aim is to turn the spotlight on this Hungarian natural sweet wine on the 10th of December each year – this is the International Tokaj Aszú Day. Taste some Tokaj Aszú and share the experience with others, show them what you have tasted. #aszuday
